چکیده

The present paper investigates the influence of specimen size EN-AW6082 wrought aluminium alloy subjected to very high cycle fatigue (VHCF) tests. hourglass specimens were tested under fully reversed loading condition, up 109 cycles, by means ultrasonic testing machine developed Italsigma® (Italy). Three groups considered, with a diameter in middle cross-section ranging from 3 mm 12 mm. stress field was determined numerically and strain gauge measurements correspondence surface. dispersion experimental results has been accounted for, data are reported P-S-N diagrams. decrease resistance increasing is evident. Theoretical explanation for observed specimen-size effect provided, based on Fractal Geometry concepts, allowing obtain scale independent P-S*-N curves. life expectation VHCF regime full-scale components rather overestimated if it assessed only standard small diameter. Experimental tests carried out larger specimens, proper extrapolation, required assure safe structural design.

Experimental and Numerical Investigation on the Heat Treatment Effects of AA6063 Aluminum Alloy Tubes During Rotary Draw Bending

In this study, the effects of heat treatment of aluminum alloy on the tube bending process were investigated in the rotary draw bending process. As two experimental and numerical simulation methods were used to determine the wall-thinning, ovality, and spring back for extruded, annealed, and aged AA6063 aluminum alloy tubes in different bending angles and bend radii. Numerical simulations were ...

the effects of changing roughness on the flow structure in the bends

flow in natural river bends is a complex and turbulent phenomenon which affects the scour and sedimentations and causes an irregular bed topography on the bed. for the reason, the flow hydralics and the parameters which affect the flow to be studied and understand. in this study the effect of bed and wall roughness using the software fluent discussed in a sharp 90-degree flume bend with 40.3cm ...

Influence of Scanning Strategies on Processing of Aluminum Alloy EN AW 2618 Using Selective Laser Melting

This paper deals with various selective laser melting (SLM) processing strategies for aluminum 2618 powder in order to get material densities and properties close to conventionally-produced, high-strength 2618 alloy. To evaluate the influence of laser scanning strategies on the resulting porosity and mechanical properties a row of experiments was done. Three types of samples were used: single-t...

Experimental investigation of size effects on the thermal conductivity of silicon-germanium alloy thin films.

We experimentally investigate the role of size effects and boundary scattering on the thermal conductivity of silicon-germanium alloys. The thermal conductivities of a series of epitaxially grown Si(1-x)Ge(x) thin films with varying thicknesses and compositions were measured with time-domain thermoreflectance. The resulting conductivities are found to be 3 to 5 times less than bulk values and v...
